Bio

Emert was born and grew up in rural Lake County. He graduated from Eastern High School in Madison and then attended Eastern Normal College (now Dakota State University) in Madison. He married Helen Weber on May 12, 1940 at Madison. Emert served in the US Navy during World War II. Following the war, he owned and operated Schrader's Cafe for 32 years. He was a member of the Sandpipers Camping Club and the Madison American Legion. Emert died at the Madison Community Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Madison United Methodist Church, where he was a member.
