Helen Cook (1929 - 2012) Helen Cook, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Helen was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Arlington and raised both there and in Fort Worth. Helen enjoyed listening to and singing bluegrass music with the Texas Trail Blazers. They would travel to nursing homes and bluegrass gatherings to perform. She was always coordinating all family gatherings and reunions. She was known as second mother to all who knew her, always there to help anyone who needed her. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert L. Cook. Survivors: Brother, Claude D. Fleming; brother-in-law, Gene Cook and wife, Iona; nine nieces; 10 nephews; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Published in Star-Telegram on June 9, 2012
