Transcribed from his 1936 Original Obituary, scanned and attached in photos. Rev. Dr. William A. Ferguson, prominent in activities of the Philadelphia Methodist Episcopal Conference, who died Wednesday night, will be buried Monday afternoon, following services at the Emanuel M.E. Church of which he was pastor. Dr. Ferguson, who was 72, was stricken at 8 PM in his home at at 2506 Brown St. Three hours later he died from an acute heart attack. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Pennington Seminary, Dr. Ferguson maintained his interest in education throughout his entire life. For many years he was a member of the board of directors of the Conference Educations Society and president of the Conference Tract Society. He was treasurer of the Philadelphia Methodist Episcopal Conference for ten years and a member of the finance committee. He served more than 13 years as treasurer of the Philadelphia Preachers' Meeting. Dr. Ferguson was a member of the Board of directors of the Goodwill Industries, the Conference Historical Society, Conference Board of Foreign Missions, a trustee of the Murphy Collegiate Institute, Sevierville, Tenn., and a member of the county committee of the Federation of Churches. He is survived by seven children and three brothers. Children: Dr. W. Byron Ferguson Norman E. In 1980, the late Lois Carol Swenson, salvaged as many historical documents from Emmanuel Methodist Church, where Ferguson served and died. It was demolished to build condos.
