Helen Alene Wylie, 91, longtime Missouri resident, left her earthly home to dwell in her heavenly home on Wed., Sept. 8, 2010. Alene was born at Natural Bridge, near Powell, MO on November 19, 1918 to Mart and Nellie Hopkins Forbes. She lived in southwest Missouri for most of her years, but also lived in Colorado and California. Alene met the love of her life, Glen Wylie, as she and her sister walked to church along a McDonald County road in 1933. Alene and Glen celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary before Glen's passing in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mart and Nellie Forbes, her daughter and son in law, Shirley and Bruce Mahr; granddaughter, Abbey Radar in 1990; one brother, Jimmy Forbes and two sisters, Thresa Loftis and Dorthy Merkle. Alene is survived by her children, Robert Wylie and wife, Jeanette, Moreland, GA; Jerry Wylie and wife, Barbara, Neosho, Sandra Thurman and husband, Bill, Stella, MO; one sister, Joan Cooper and husband, Don, Anderson; one brother, Al Forbes and wife, Cindy, Neosho. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren. Alene will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. She was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker. Friends and family were always welcome in her home, where they would be treated to a good meal, friendly conversation and sometimes entertainment as she played her Omni Chord and sang Christian songs. As a woman of faith, she spent much of her life attending, worshiping and supporting churches wherever she lived.
