Bio

William S. Shultz was born in 1848 in Wisconsin and moved with his parents when a child, to Iowa, there he was married to Mrs. Lavira Gant. To this union six children were born, Mary, an invalid who is in the hospital at Norfolk, Nebr., Mrs. Laura Dilky of Giltner, Charles of Ord, Nebr., and Walter of Doniphan. Two died in infancy. His wife passed away in March 1920. Mr. Shultz with his family was among the early pioneers in this vicinity, living on the homestead 5 miles southeast of Doniphan until the death of his companion. Since that time he has spent a portion of his time with his children and a number of months in the hospital in Grand Island, having poor health due to paralysis. He had been growing weaker for some time and on Friday Nov. 11, the end came at the home of his daughter, near Giltner. Besides his children he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Addie Dufforf of Orange, Calif., and Mrs. Hiria Lakin of Doniphan, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dilky near Giltner at 2 p. m., and from the Methodist church in Doniphan at 2:30 on Sunday, Nov. 13, conducted by the pastor of the Christian church at Giltner. Interment was made in Cedar View cemetery. Giltner News Wm. Stephen Shultz passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laura Dilky, November 11, 1921, at the age of 73 years, seven months and three days. He was born in Wisconsin April the 7th, 1848, and immigrated to Iowa with his parents before the Civil war. He was married to Laviar Grant in 1870. There were six children born to this union, Mary E. Shultz, an invalid at Norfolk, Neb., Laura Dilky , of Giltner, Neb., Chas. S. Shultz of Ord, Neb., W. W. Shultz of Doniphan, Neb., and the two youngest children died in infancy. He also leaves to mourn his death two sisters, Mariah Lakin of Doniphan and Addie Dufford of Orange, Cal. Thirteen grand children and two great grandchildren. His wife preceeded him March 5, 1920. Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday at the M. E. church at Doniphan, Rev. Hilton officiating. Burial was made in the Doniphan cemetery.
