☆~ VETERAN ~☆ Randolph S. Svitak, son of James J. and Rose (Pojar) Svitak, was born November 13, 1931, at the family farm near Howells, Nebraska. Randolph died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Avera Creighton Care Centre in Creighton. Randolph attended a rural country school near their family home. After receiving his education, Randolph served his Country in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956. On October 18, 1955, Randolph married Esther Beier at St. Henry's Catholic Church in rural Howells. The couple was blessed with six children, Monica, Jane, Linda, Mark, Michael, and Andrew. Randolph and Esther lived several places during their married lives, including Howells; Morrill, Nebraska for 50 years; and Creighton, Nebraska, the past two and a half years. Randolph was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, Nebraska, and St. Ann's Catholic Church in Morrill, Nebraska. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Creighton and Gering, NE, the Senior Citizens organization, President of the "Panhandle Czechs", and served as Chaplain of the Gering VFW for many years. Randolph was an avid ham radio operator, was "Mr. Fix-It" for friends and neighbors, an airplane pilot, and loved to play his accordion, as well as dance to any polka or waltz. He farmed and worked for Brush Communications, and then owned and operated a partnership, C & R Electronics, a commercial "business band" 2-way radio business in Scottsbluff until retirement. Randolph is survived by his loving wife, Esther Svitak of Creighton, Nebraska; daughters, Monica (Jerry) Cunningham of Bridgeport, Nebraska, Jane (Mark) Wilmes of Creighton, Nebraska, and Linda (Kenneth) Stangle of Hemmingford, Nebraska; sons, Mark (Kelly) Svitak of Colona, Illinois, Michael (Lori) Svitak of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Andrew (Joanne) Svitak of Riva, Maryland; and brothers, Lambert (Helen) of Norfolk, Nebraska, Raymond of Norfolk, Nebraska, Edward (Mary) of Howells, Nebraska, and Vernon of Mesa, Arizona; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Svitak; sisters, Marcella Jindra and Elgina Bures; and grandson Bradley Stangle.
