Cecelia Agnus (Kuban) Obsivac was born January 21, 1885 to Paul and Marie (Cabak) Kuban in Moravia (Region in Czechoslovakia). When Cecelia was about 8 years old, she and her family left Czechoslovakia and sailed to America on the ship "Trave". They arrived at Columbus, Texas Nov. 6, 1893. Cecelia met Michael Obsivac at the cemetery on All Souls Day Nov. 2, 1901. Cecelia said Michael owned the best looking horse and saddle in the county. Cecelia was 17 and Michael was 25 when they married January 21, 1902, just over 2 months after meeting. The ceremony location was Old Nada, Colorado County, Texas. They were married for 51 years until Michael's passing from a heart attack in 1953. Michael was a widower and had a young son, John Paul - age 4, and a daughter, Anna - age 1, at the time of the marriage. Michael's first wife died 11 days after giving birth to Anna. Cecelia raised John Paul and loved him as her own. (Note: Author has no history on who raised Anna.) Cecelia and Michael moved to Prague, Oklahoma where they made a living by farming and ranching. Here they raised 6 children and lived the remainder of their lives. In her later years, Cecelia lived with her son Leon in the town of Prague. Cecelia passed away June 5, 1981.
