Leonard Graphic 10 Oct 1952 Celeste Rites Held For Sam Simmons Sunday Final rites were observed at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon from the Celeste Baptist Church for S. S. Simmons, 67, who passed away Thursday night at the home of a daughter in Dallas. Death followed an illness of four years duration. Services were conducted by Rev. Thomas Reece of Trenton, the Rev. Terrell Gordon of Dallas and the Rev. A. W. Cunningham, pastor of the Celeste church. Burial was in the Gober cemetery. Deceased was the son of G. W. and Martha Washington Simmons, and was born in Linden on May 7, 1885. He lived in Leonard and Greenville before moving to Dallas 10 years ago. Survivors include his wife; three children, Mrs. Tom Massey of Dallas, J. B. Simmons of Plainview and Mrs. Eddie Rowell of Celeste, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
