Gladys P. (Rorie) Chasak, 92, of Durham, died peacefully in Melbourne, Florida on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Gladys was born in Chesterfield, South Carolina and married Erwin Thomas Chasak Sr. in 1945. They lived in Durham for 60 years, raising three children. Their faith in God and love for each other set an example of a strong marriage. Gladys will always be remembered for the love she constantly poured out to family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, writing stories, dancing, watching basketball and baseball, and traveling while continuing her career in cosmetology. Her words of wisdom to live by were "Always be true and have no regrets. Don't do anything you will be sorry for later. Just be yourself and love yourself too." Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Rorie; her husband, Erwin Thomas Chasak Sr.; seven siblings; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Chasak. She is survived by sister, Connie Roghelia; brother, Tommy Ross Rorie Sr.; children, Larry (Mackie) Chasak, Linda Chasak-Wright (husband, Larry), and Erwin Thomas (Tommy) Chasak Jr. (wife, Joyce); grandchildren, Christopher Chasak, Jeremy Chasak, Cassie Chasak, Brian Wright, Lindsay Goins and Whitney Wright; and great-grandchildren, Patrick and Anna Wright, and Jade, Caitlin and Myla Goins. Gladys will always be missed by family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Durham Herald-Sun - May 23 2012
