Edith Smith Funeral services for Edith Smith, 88, of Brashear were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Hutchinson officiating. Burial followed in the Brashear Cemetery with Kurt Willis, Brian Willis, Chad Watkins, Herbie Willis, Clay Stinnett and Darrell Donald serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Smith died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in the Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was bom on May 26, 1913, in Brashear to Henry and Elmetta Cannon George. She married Jerome Smith on April 20, 1930, in Brashear. He preceded her in death in 1983. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Brashear Baptist Church. Survivors include one son. Jack Smith of Brashear; three sisters, Faye Dorsey of Sulphur Springs, Naomi Potts of Brashear and Ruth Miller of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Glenn George of Brashear and Earl Gene "Red" George of Brashear; three grandchildren, Jimmy Smith, Annette Stinnett and Brenda Willis; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Billy George and one sister, Christine Bearden.
