Discrepancies exist here. Errors may have been made on this monument, or spellings may have been used interchangeably. Name on Death Certificate and 1910 Census is spelled Houk, while monument and 1900 Census show spelling as Howk. Also, birth year on monument shows 1838, while Death Certificate and 1900 Census show 1848. Spouse's name was Louise, and parents were Salathan & Ellen Maples Houk. ------- William Houk (89662955) Suggested edit: His surname is HOWK. It says that on the stone. His father Salathiel Howk and brother Simeon Houk both had business' and becasue their initials were the same Salathiel used Howk and Simeon used Houk.
