James along with other members of his family came from Alabama to Texas along with his mother Elizabeth Maples Howk she is burried in the Gober Cemetery in Fannin Co. Thers is not marker for James as it is uncertain where and exactly when he died. James married Mary Elizabeth Woods on April 4 1886 Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas.
