Bio
Eleanor M. (Czarnick) Stankoski, 85, a loving wife and mother, entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Eleanor, formerly of Genoa, was a resident at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 4, at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa with Father Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at church with 7:00 PM Rosary. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the church. Eleanor was born on April 4, 1927, to Joe and Mary (Moritz) Czarnick. Eleanor was raised on a farm South of Genoa. She was 1 of 14 children. She attended District 39 School, which was 2 ½ miles from their home, through the 8th grade. She attended Genoa High School through her 11th grade year when she was forced to stay home and take care of the farm with her sisters as her brothers left to serve in the military. Eleanor met and married Zigmund Stankoski in 1945. They lived on a farm south of Genoa until they moved to Tucson, Arizona for 1 ½ years where Zigmund worked in the coal mines. They moved back to Omaha, Nebraska and lived there for 2 years. During this time Eleanor worked at a car factory. They then decided to move back to Genoa and start their family. Eleanor began working at the local Genoa Tavern in approximately 1976 and worked there for 20 years. She lived at her home in Genoa until February of 2009 when she entered Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward. Some of her favorite things to do was to cook, garden, play bingo, and shop. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by: Son: Jim Stankoski of Genoa, NE Son: Zigmund Jr. (Cindy) Stankoski of Watts, OK Son: Dan (Kelli) Stankoski of Genoa, NE Daughter: Cindy (Jerry) Grooms of York, NE Daughter: Cheryl (Brian) Andreasen of St. Edward, NE 12 Grandchildren Brother: Emil Czarnick of Genoa, NE Sister: Emily Wrubel of Columbus, NE Eleanor was preceded in death by: Parents : Joe and Mary Czarnick, Husband : Zigmund Stankoski in 2002 Siblings: Leo, Helen, Clara, Alex, Benny, Francis, Steve, Catherine, Felix, Frank, and Elizabeth.
