Obituary -Gonzales Inquirer Feb. 24, 1941 Carl Sauer Dies Monday, Funeral Tuesday Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Robertson and Seydler Funeral Chapel for Carl Sauer, well known resident of the Five Mile Section, who passed away at his home there at 2:30 o'clock Monday morning. Rev. W. Wolf will conduct the services, after which interment will be made in the City cemetery. Mr. Sauer was 77 years, 3 months and 9 days of age at the time of his death. He had been quiet ill for some time. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lydia Dauer; four sons, William Sauer of Woodsboro, Albert Sauer of San Antonio and August and Oscar Sauer of Five Miles; two daughters, Mrs. W. M. Rokohl of Stockdale and Mrs. O. G. Ahrens of McGregor; two brothers, Bob Sauer of Smiley and Albert Sauer of Dreyer; and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Pagel of Dreyer, Mrs. Minnie Gabler of Weimar and Mrs. Agnes Weathers of New Mexico. Mr. Sauer was born in Fayette County November 15, 1863, but lived for many years in this county, where he was engaged in garnering. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dauer, both natives of Germany. A life long member of the Lutheran church, he was a faithful worker in his church, and a devoted member. He was well known throughout the county, and his passing comes as a blow to many friends.
