CIVIL WAR SOLDIER 1st Ohio Light Artillery , Battery C Residence was not listed; 21 years old. Enlisted on 9/9/1861 as a Private. On 10/8/1861, he mustered into Battery C. He was Mustered Out on 6/15/1865 at Camp Cleveland, OH BOOK---Tidds of Ohio by Howard H Tidd; Pg-120 Lists children of Mary saying no infor-mation has become available about those who moved west-some going to California; naming Peter, Loanda & AlvinO. KS--Long Island Leader...Apr 1888 PETER BASQUIN--48: died on Thursday aft-ernoon [4-12] of brights disease at his home at Deer Creek-8 miles east of this city. MrB will be remembered by many as one of the early settlers in these parts. RevFee of the Evangelical church at Woodruff preached the funeral sermon at the residence. KS--Phillipsburg Dispatch...27 Apr 1888 PETER BASQUIN--48yrs-5mos-18days: Died Thursday [4-12] at his residence near Woodruff, after an illness of about 30 days. MrBasquin was an ex-Union soldier having served his country 4 years. He resided in Phillips county about 14 years & was highly respected. He leaves a wife & 4 childen [William, Gertrude, Delila, Herbert] to mourn his departure. Mrs Basquin [Delia] requests us to return the thanks of the family to the neighbors generally, for the great kindness manifested by them in his last days.
