Clay Center resident Richard Vernon Iverson, 89, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, NE. Richard was born October 8, 1922, to Edward Andreas and Jenny M. (Hazlitt) Iverson in St. Edward, NE. In 1954, he married Florine Labenz. He worked as a ranch hand in Bridgeport for many years. Then in 1966, he moved with his family to Clay Center where he worked with cattle at the U. S. Meat Animal Research Center near Clay Center until his retirement in 1985. Richard was preceded in death by: parents, five brothers, and one sister. Richard is survived by: wife, Florine Iverson of Clay Center, NE; sons, Ken Iverson of Clay Center, NE; Keith Iverson of Brighton, CO; Steve and wife Dawn Iverson of Grand Island, NE; and James Iverson of Hastings, NE; daughters, Karen and husband Brad Cushing of Harvard, NE; and Joan Frazier of Clay Center, NE.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in the Clay Center Cemetery, Clay Center, NE.
