ALFRED E. "Slim" GENZER, 81, passed away February 2, 2007 in Houston. Alfred was born March 10, 1925 in Fayette, County Texas. He served in the US Army during WWII for 32 months. Later, Alfred and his brother Joe formed a custom trim contracting business, "Genzer Brothers Trim Contractors." His custom trim work can be found in many homes in the Memorial Area built by popular home builder John Vaglienti. Slim's hobbies included, hunting and fishing. After retirement, he and Elsie enjoyed spending time at the lake in their motor home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rosie Rerich Genzer; and brothers, Alvin and Joe. Alfred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elsie Billeck Genzer; children, Kenneth (Kathy) Genzer, Gary (Patti) Genzer, Calvin (Sandi) Genzer, and Dale (Candy) Genzer; grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Candy, Corby, Garrett, Nicole, Caitlan, and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Heidi, and Payton; sister, Viola Hartensteiner. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Manor Nursing Home for the care given to Alfred over the past five years. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Monday February 5, 2007, with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M. at the J.B. Earthman Tanglewood Funeral Home, 5740 San Felipe in Houston. Funeral service, 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow on the cemetery grounds following the service. Published in Houston Chronicle on February 4, 2007
