Obituary: JOSEPH JOHN (Jack) GENZER, 74, born on March 17, 1928 in LaGrange, Texas. He passed away on April 9, 2002 in Houston, Texas. He was a Korean War Veteran who served in the U.S. Army with the 40th Division. Lifelong accomplished finishing trim carpenter who was a co-owner of Genzer Brothers. Proceeded in death by his brother, Alvin Genzer. Survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 48 years, Viola Genzer. Daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Lawrence Portie. Sons and Daughter-in-law, Thomas J. Genzer, Ronnie and Debbie Genzer. Grandchildren, Kristopher, Nicklaus and Kimberley Portie; Greg and Joel Genzer; Sara and Emilie Genzer. One great-grandchild, Mackenzie Portie. Brother, Alfred Genzer. Sister, Viola Hartensteiner. Special family friends Joe and Shirley Holcomb. Visitation 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday at Waltrip Funeral Directors, where a Rosary for the deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 12, 2002 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood with Rev. Michael S. Van Cleve. Interment with full military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Blaschke, David Kubos, Larry Stelzel, Kenneth Genzer, Dale Genzer and Michael Hartensteiner. Honorary Pallbearers are the 40th Division of The Korean War.
