Richard "Dick" M. Kuta September 22, 1929 – March 6, 2012 Delta resident, Richard "Dick" Kuta, passed away March 6, 2012, after a lengthy illness at his home in Delta, Colorado. He was 82 years of age. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday , March 11, 2012, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, Colorado. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection to be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss, Colorado. Richard Kuta was born to Adam A. and Mary E. (Nosal) Kuta on September 22, 1929, in Loup City, Nebraska. He spent his childhood in Loup City, graduating from Loup City High School in 1946. Richard honorably served his country in Germany and Korea while in the United States Army. On September 2, 1989, Richard married Jacque K. Booth in Ouray, Colorado, and gained three stepdaughters. Richard and Jacque would have celebrated their 23rd anniversary this year. Richard was previously married to Phyllis (Redden) Kuta. They raised three children. Richard worked as a Colorado State patrolman for 16 years. After retiring from the state patrol, Richard drove a school bus for 16 years. He loved children, and the students brought him joy over the years. Richard was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. He loved traveling the mountains and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, reading and wintering in Arizona. More importantly, he loved and cherished his family. Richard was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and a former member of Knights of Columbus. He was also a life member of Delta Elks Lodge and belonged to several coffee clubs, socializing with comrades and co-workers. Richard is survived by his wife, Jacque Kuta; two sons: Randy Kuta, of Aurora, CO, and Mike Kuta, of Austin, CO; one daughter, Melinda Kuta, of Erie, CO; three stepdaughters: Kimberly Shreeves, of Delta, CO, Shelly (Dave) Vandertie, of Solana Beach, CA, and Lisa (Bernie) Kuta, of Highlands Ranch, CO; six sisters: Lynn Rozmiarek, of Pueblo, CO, Rita (Lee) Mendyk, of Winona, MN, Dodie Dickerson, of Belmont, CA, Marian Novak, of Rio Rancho, NM, Georgia Treadwell, of Fruita, CO, and Kathy (Marvin) Klaes, of Middleburg, FL; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends. Richard was preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest Kuta and Arnold "Jack" Kuta; his parents; his former wife, Phyllis Kuta; and two infant children. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Richard's memory to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, Colorado 81416.
