Cedar Rapids Outlook (Cedar Rapids, Nebr.), June 2, 1921, p. 5, col. 3 DROWNED IN CEDAR RIVER Sunday afternoon John Duhon in company with several other boys of his neighborhood went to the Cedar river bathing. Little did they think that one of the party would meet with an untimely death, but such was the case. John was the oldest of the boys, so he went in first to see how deep the water was. He dropped into a deep hole and called to the other boys to stay out as it was over their head. He attempted to swim out but was drawn under and did not come up again. The alarm was given and the river was dragged and the body brought to surface a few hours later. He was a son of Matt Duhon of the Pinnacle Hill neighborhood and was 22 years of age. He was an exemplary young man and his untimely death cast a shadow of sorrow over the community. To the family is extended the sympathy of all in their hour of bereavement. Funeral services were held at the St. Anthony's church Tuesday morning. An unusual large procession followed the funeral car to the silent city where the body was laid to rest.
