Albion Weekly News (Albion, Nebr.), p. 6, col. 3 Cedar Rapids Leader-Outlook section MATT DUHON PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME Death Came to Well Known Resident of Cedar Community November 8 Matt Duhon passed away at his home in Cedar Rapids Wednesday morning, November 8, 1944, at the age of 76 years. Requiem high mass was held for him Saturday morning, November 11, at St. Anthony's church with Rev. Father Vermuelen officiating. Matt Duhon was born in Czechoslovakia in 1868 and came to America at the age of sixteen, locating in Omaha. In 1889 he was married to Mary Zajic and to this union were born 4 sons and 4 daughters. In 1904 the family moved to Butler county to the vicinity of Brainard, Bruno and David City. Then in 1916 they moved to Boone county, settling near Cedar Rapids. One son, John, preceded him in death, May 29, 1921. Those surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mary Duhon; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Babacek, Omaha, Mrs. Anna Kozba, Bee, Mrs. Lizzie Kozba, Brainard, and Mrs. Josie Miller, Albion; three sons, Wm. J. Duhon, Omaha, S/Sgt James Duhon, overseas; Frank Duhon, Cedar Rapids, twenty-eight grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. ___ Card of Thanks We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to our many friends and neighbors, especially many, many thanks to Father Vermuelen and Dr. Reeder.
