Funeral services for Vera Mae Patterson, 94, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating. Interment will follow in Gafford Chapel Cemetery with Gregg Gainer, Bryan Patterson, Jerry Maynard, Jeff Maeker, Rudy Wright and Mark Lyles serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Tapp Funeral Home. Vera Mae Patterson passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 27, 1917, in Hopkins County, the daughter of Marion A. and Nannie Bryant Day. She married Hilbert Glen Patterson on Dec. 31, 1938, in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death in 1983. Mrs. Patterson was a retired seamstress with the H.D. Lee Company. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Wesley Quilters. Survivors include one son, one daughter, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, D.L. Day and Leo Day; and one sister, Florine Wright. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs. Arrangements under the direction of Tapp Funeral Home.
