Dolphus "D.L." Lee Day, 79, of 6 Delrose Circle, Taylors, died Saturday, June 23, 1990 at Greenville Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. Born August 29, 1910 at Sulphur Springs, Texas, he was a con of the late Marion and Nannie Bryant Day. Before his retirement as Master Sergeant, he served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force for twenty-two years. He was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and also served during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for U.S. Civil Service for ten years. Mr. Day was a member of Taylors Church of God and Taylors Masonic Lodge #345 A.F.M. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Doris Cox Day; a daughter, Mrs. Judy D. McLauchlin of Kernersville, NC; a son, David R. Day of Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Florene D. Wright of Houston, TX and Mrs. Vera D. Patterson of Sulphur Springs, TX; a brother, J.L. Day of Sulphur Springs, TX; four grandchildren, Lamar Wolgemuth of Greenville, Tonja Larke of Travelers Rest, Alex McLauchlin of Greensboro, NC and Trina McLauchlin of Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Slater Church of God with burial to follow in Grand View Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
