Rosenberg Herald, August 11, 1944: Friends throughout the county were grieved last week when the announcement was made of the death of Mr. Robert Althaus of Rosenberg, Rt 1. Mr. Althaus passed away at his home Thursday, August 3, 1944, after having been ill for some time. Mr. Althaus was born on December 20, 1872 in Washington County, Texas. He had been a resident of Fort Bend County for the past thirty-four years and was one of the community's most beloved and highly esteemed citizens. He had been a successful farmer during his life, but at the time of his illness, was retired from farming activities. He was a member of the Evangelical Church. Funeral services for Mr. Althaus were held at the Frieden's Evangelical Church, Beasley, Saturday afternoon, August 5, 1944, at 5 o'clock, conducted by the pastor Rev. Ralph E. Huber. Interment took place in the Frieden's Evangelical Cemetery, Beasley. The Foerster Funeral Home of Rosenberg had charge of funeral arrangements. The following served as pallbearers: O.E. Ehrlich, Theo. Wernecke, Herbert Rosenbaum, Louis Hafer, Louis Stern, and F.W. Gerke. Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Althaus; four daughters, Mrs. W. H. Kelm of Houston, Mrs. Ben Hueske of McGregor, Mrs. C. H. Schroeder of Rosenberg, and Mrs. J.C. Walker of Oakville; two sons, Alfred and Henry Althaus, both of Rosenberg; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
