Abilene Reporter News - April 2, 2005 CLYDE — Robert Harber, 72, of Clyde, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005 at a local hospital. Services are at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with Archie Scarbrough officiating. Burial will be at Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Robert was born May 18, 1932 in Capps, Texas to Dora and R. D. Harber. He graduated from Ballinger High School and served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He married Lavern Hutton June 24, 1953 in Abilene. He managed Safeway's in Big Spring, Colorado City, Brownwood and Snyder. In 1971, Robert and his family moved to Clyde, where he purchased Pyeatt Grocery. In 1972, he renamed the store Harber Grocery, which he owned until selling in 1985. Afterwards, he managed TC Village Market until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers J. C. and Leonard Harber, sister Evala Harber and grandson, Justin Barr. Robert was a loving Christian husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be truly missed!
