Wife of Joseph West Plummer. Daughter of Jefferson Stephens and Elizabeth Jane Harry THE TILLER & TOILER Larned, Kansas Friday, August 5, 1904 OBITUARY OF MRS. J. W. PLUMMER Nancy C. Stephens was born in Cedar county, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1843, and died in Larned, Kansas, July 28, 1904, aged 60 years, 10 months, 25 days. At the age of 15 she was converted and united with the Protestant Methodist church. In July 1861, she was united in marriage in Iowa to Mr. J. W. Plummer. To this union four sons were born, all of whom are living and with the father mourn the loss of mother and wife. In 1878 Mrs. Plummer became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and during all her life she was a faithful Christian. Twenty-one years ago the disease which at last resulted in death, first made its appearance. During the years of her affliction the family moved to different places and made many sacrifices for the sake of the mother, hoping that relief might be found. On the 1st of last May the family came to Larned from Oklahoma on their way north, but were obliged to stop here and give special attention to the sick one. Mrs. Plummer was a great sufferer, and yet a patient and truthful child of God. During the last few weeks of her stay on earth she expressed many times a longing to depart for her heavenly home. She believed that her Savior was near her, and wished many times that He would take her home. After much patient suffering and giving good-bye to loved ones she peacefully fell asleep in Jesus. The funeral service was held in the Methodist Episcopal church of Larned on Friday afternoon July 29, conducted by the pastor, Rev. F. W. Imboden, who preached from the scripture found in 2nd Cor., 5th chapter and 1st verse. The remains were interred in the Larned cemetery.
