On Dec. 25, 1939, she married Dr. Frank M. Parker who preceded her in death. Nancy was a unique individual. From her humble beginnings as an only child during the Depression, a devoted wife and mother of three children, assisting her husband at his dental office, she began her own career at the age of 57. Her fame spread quickly throughout north Texas as a remarkable cooking demonstrator in such places as Neiman Marcus, Plate and Platter, food-editor of the “Dallas/Ft. Worth Home and Garden Magazine” and the Jones and Jones Department Store in McAllen where she was the director/consultant of their restaurant and epicure. Nancy’s devotion and unselfishness were demonstrated in numerous ways as she administered to the needy and volunteered for civic responsibilities throughout the community for more than 40 years. Her positive attitude, encouraging and uplifting spirit will be deeply missed. There are no words to express the void that will be felt in our lives. Survivors include her son, James Parker and wife Laura of McKinney; daughter Martha (Parker) Patterson of Zionsville, Ind.; grandchildren Taylor (Parker) Vanover of Trinidad, Rachel Parker of Dallas, Blake Patterson of Zionsville, Ind., Caroline Parker of Austin and Whitney Parker of Wylie; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and son, Joseph Forrest Parker.
