Texas Coaster, March 9, 1944: Friends here were shocked last week to learn of the death of Mrs. Joe F. Straznicky who passed away on March 1 at 10:45 a.m. at the age of 50 years. Funeral services for Mrs. Straznicky were held Sunday from the family residence near Needville at 2:00 pm. and at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Needville, at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. J.R. Vilt, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment was in the Needville Public Cemetery. Mrs. Angelina Straznicky was born Dec. 26, 1893 at Moravia, Tex. She was married to Joseph F. Straznicky on September 15, 1915 at Fayetteville, and they moved to Cottonwood where they resided for three years. Then they purchased a farm in the Needville community and she continued to live here until her death. She had been in ill health for two years. The deceased is survived by her husband and five children: three sons, Bennie of Rosenberg, Emil, U.S. Army stationed at Salt Lake City, Utah, and Henry of Needville; two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Schwettmann of Guy and Mrs. Leroy Deiss of Needville. There are five grandchildren. ****************************************************************************************** Rosenberg Herald, March 10, 1944: Friends of the J. Straznicky family where saddened when they heard of Mrs. Straznicky's death. She passed away on March 1st at 10:45 p.m. and reached an age of 50 years, 2 months, and 4 days. Mrs. Angie Straznicky was born on the 26th day of December, 1893 in Moravia, Fayette County, Texas. On September 14, 1915, she married Mr. Jos. Straznicky and moved to Ft. Bend County. They lived for the first three years in the Cottonwood community. They bought their own farm in the Needville community where she died. Their union was blessed with five children, 2 daughters and 3 sons. She was sick for the last few years and underwent three operations. Her husband did for her all that was in his power and called good doctors, but to no avail. The Lord over life and death called her home. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Mr. Jos. Straznicky; three sons, Bennie of Rosenberg, Emil, who is in the armed forces of our country stationed at Salt Lake City, Utah, Henry, who is with his father in Needville; two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Schwettmann of Guy and Mrs. Lee Roy Deiss of Needville; five grandchildren; mother; three bothers, Frank, Fred, and Louis; four sisters, Louise, Tony, Mary, and Vlasta; and other relatives. Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 5th, at 2 p.m. at the residence and at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church at Needville, Rev. J.R. Vilt officiating. Interment was made in the Needville Public Cemetery, with the Foerster Funeral Home directing.
