Son of Robert Costin and Sarah Ann (Stowers) Beauchamp. Husband of Marietta (Kendall) Beauchamp. Raised in Hancock Co, Ky. and to agricultural pursuits. He spent the first 21 years of his life with his parents. He received a fair English education at the common schools, and later attended St. Mary's College, Marion Co, where he was instructed in the higher branches. He commenced farming for himself in Hawesville Precinct, which has been his home ever since. In 1863 he enlisted in the Third Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate States Army with which he served until the close of the war. His regiment was in the Western Army Corps, under Gens. Breckinridge and Morgan, and saw a great deal of active service, participating in a number of bloody engagements. After the close of the war, Mr. Beauchamp returned to his native county and resumed farming, at which he has been very successful, and has become one of the leading farmers and stock raisers in the precinct where he resides.
