Bio

Decatur Herald 2/23/1907 W.S.Shirey received a telegram yesterday announcing the death of his niece, Mrs.Will Barnard,at Chicago. Death was the result of an operation which was performed at a Chicago hospital a few weeks ago for stomach trouble. The body will be taken to Lovington for burial. Funeral services will be held from the M. E. church at that place Sunday morning at 11 oclock. Mrs.Barnard was formerly Miss Gertrude Shirey and resided with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.G. W.Shirey, at Sullivan. She was well known in Moultrie county. Decatur Herald 2/23/1907 The remains of Mrs.Gertie Barnard formerly Miss Gertie Shirey of this place, will be brought here today from her home in Chicago, where she died Wednesday night.
