Funeral services for Howard Trusty, 88, of Leonard were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Leonard with the Rev. Denny Gorena officiating. Burial was in the Leonard Cemetery. Mr. Trusty died Saturday, Sept. 2, at Leonard Manor. He was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Nobility, the son of James Alfred Trusty and Hattie Elizabeth Thomas Trusty. He married Willetta Jo Smith on Aug. 25, 1937, in Durant, Okla. She preceded him in death. Mr. Trusty was a mechanic. He was a member of Scottish Rite and Grove Hill Lodge 373, AF and AM, order of the Eastern Star, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and a retired member of Leonard Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Leonard, Survivors include two sons, Col. Monty James Trusty of Crossroads and Mickey Joe and wife Wanda Trusty of Sulphur Springs; one brother, C.D. Trusty of Nobility; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
