FRANKIE L. VRLA JR., 72, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at his home in Ennis. He was born April 20, 1932 in Ennis, the son of Frankie L. and Mary Hrbacek Vrla, Sr. He was reared in Ennis where he attended school. On Oct. 29, 1955 he was married to [deleted]. After their marriage they lived in Dallas for 10 years where he was a deputy for the Dallas County Sheriff's Dept. They then moved to Ovilla for 20 years and in 2001 moved to Ennis. He retired from Vought. Frankie's hobbies were fishing and gardening. He loved playing Czech music and started playing his accordion at the age of 11. He played with many local bands, later forming his own band, "The Texas Playmates". He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, the Ennis VFW, Sokol, WFLA #401 and the Dallas Co. Deputy Assoc. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Ennis; a son, [deleted] of Ennis; 2 brothers, Milton Vrla [now deceased] of Ennis and [deleted] ; 2 sisters, [deleted] of Euless and [deleted] of Hurst. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Raymond Vrla and Emil Vrla. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell officiating.
