Bio

Berdine Beth(Hughes)Lewis Berdine Beth Hughes Lewis, daughter of Emmett Earl and Mona Eleanor Conner Hughes was born on July 10, 1934, in Ericson, and passed away on March 20, 2012, in North Platte. Berdine was united in marriage in 1951 and into this union three children were born. She worked at Farmers State Bank in Sargent, Wheelers in Grand Island and Herbergers in North Platte for a number of years. She met and married the love of her life, Zane Lewis in 1977 in Grand Island. She gained one additional son with this union. After residing in several locations, she made her permanent home among family and friends in North Platte. Berdine is a very positive and giving person. She has a mischievous sense of humor and is always making others laugh. She enjoys fishing, gardening, garage saling, dancing, playing shuffleboard and visiting with her friends and relatives. She finds great pleasure in interacting with her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She is also a member of the Eagles. In her retirement years she has dedicated numerous hours to volunteering at the Bargain Bin and with Am Vets. In recent years she found the second great love of her life, mentoring at-risk youth, which she thinks is the most important volunteer activity with which she is involved. Her love for others will forever be in each of our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother. Those who remain to celebrate her life include her children, Michael Hughes Rysavy, of Eagle, Colo., Mitchell Joseph (Karen) Rysavy, of Gypsym, Colo., and Geri Beth (Tom) Klahr, of Eagle, Colo., and Boyd Allen Lewis, of Las Cruces, N.M.; sevent grandchildren, Jessica, Brett and Nick Klahr, Roxanne Rysavy Mallander, Matthew Mitchell Rysavy, and Celeste and Brett Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Brandi and Kira Mallander; two sisters; two brothers; and many other relatives and friends.
