Bio

"James W. Layton was born in Chattooga County, Ga., July 14th, 1847, and died January 22nd, 1919. He was first married to Miss Sarah Storey, March 26, 1876, to whom eight children were born, five still living--D. A., J. S., O. T., L. L., and Sallie. His first wife died February 16, 1887. He was again married to Miss Sarah Cherry, December 8, 1887, and came to Texas in 1904, where she died June 17, 1911. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery." (from the Winnsboro News, 1919)
