Duran Elam TUPELO - Grady Duran Elam, 64, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Homeplace in Saltillo after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 30, 1947, in Corinth to Grady Elam and Willard Essary Purvis Elam. He graduated from Corinth High School in 1965 and in 1971 graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor of science degree in general business. He married Dianne Gann, and they made Tupelo their home for the past 38 years. He worked in consumer finance industry for many years. An avid MSU fan and alumni, he enjoyed football, basketball and baseball and gardening. He was an active member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life service will be at noon Thursday in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Bert Harper officiating and Bro. Michael Taber assisting. Private burial will follow in Henry Cemetery at Corinth. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Elam of Tupelo; one daughter, Tonya Elam Watts (Brian) of Clarksville, Tenn.; one grandson, Luke Watts; sister-in-law, Kathy Fuqua (Jerry); three nieces, Kyra Cossey (Jay), Kim Campbell (Brad) and Kelley Richardson (Chris); nephew, Brad Helms of Tupelo; cousins, Mike Taber (Sherry), Gary Taber, Dale Taber (Kari) and Marsha Bennett (Erwin). He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Elam Helms; and niece, Jennifer Helms. Pallbearer will be Connie Brown, Jimmy Sullivan, Joe Norman, Mark Ozbirn, Mike Bynes and Danny Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be West Jackson Street Baptist Church Sunday School, Men of Faith, and Marion Stanford. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday.
