TUPELO - Carol Elam Helms, 55, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. She was born Nov. 4, 1950, in Corinth to the late Grady and Willard Essary Elam. She was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. She worked as a teacher's assistant and daycare teacher for many years. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Bert Harper and the Rev. Michael Tabor officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Gilvo Cemetery. Survivors include one son, Brad Helms of Tupelo; one brother, Duram Elam and wife, Dianne, of Tupelo; one niece, Tonya Elam Watts and husband, Brian, of Grand Junction, Colo.; one great-nephew, Luke Watts of Grand Junction, Colo. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Helms. Pallbearers will be Jerry Fuqua, Gary Ozbirn, Ronnie VanBuskirk, the Rev. Michael Tabor, Gary Tabor and Dale Tabor. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of "A" hall at Beverly Healthcare on Eason Boulevard. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
