Herald Coaster, March 2, 1997: Funeral services for Viola Kovar Senkel, 87, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 1997, at the Garmany and Carden Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. The Rev. Thomas Hill will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Zbranek, Donnie and Melvin Sands, Norman Bryan, William H. Koym Jr., and Matthew Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Zbranek and Danny L. Hancock. Mrs. Senkel died Friday, Feb. 18, 1997, in Brenham, TX. She was born May 30, 1909 in Florence, TX to parents, Joe and Emily Kovar. In 1927, she married Louis O. Senkel who preceded her in death in 1983. For most of her life, Rosenberg was her home but in 1993 she moved to a retirement facility in Brenham. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg. Her survivors include her sister, Zelma Koym of Richmond, numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Garmany and Carden Funeral Directors, Inc., 1201 Fourth St., Rosenberg, TX 77471. 281-342-4671.
