Bio

Son of William Wilson Vaughn and Rebecca Grace Chappel Vaughn. He married Elizabeth "Elizer" Etter Clardy on 11 June 1857 in Sevier Co., Arkansas. They were the parents of eight children: Martha Rebecca Parilee, Ella Elizabeth, John William, Henry Marshall, Mariah Elfleda, Joseph Decalb, Annie Claire, and James Clardy Vaughn. John R.Z. Vaughn, age 12, is shown in the 1850 U.S. Federal Census in Lowndes Co., Mississippi in the household of his parents, William W. Vaughn and Rebecca G. Vaughn. His siblings are Henry M., 16, Martha S., 8, and Rebecca M, 2. John R.Z. Vaughn, 31, is shown in the 1870 U.S. Federal Census in Blue Bayou Township, Sevier Co., Arkansas as head of household. Others in the household were enumerated as Eliza Vaughn, 31, and these children: Paralea, 12, John, 7, Elfleden, 3.
