Parents, Father Caleb Mercer 1791–1839 and mother Libbe Lucretia Windle 1790– Shelbina Democrat Shelbina, MO, Wednesday, September 13, 1876: "Mrs. John W. Copenhaver was buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery here last week. She leaves a large family and circle of friends, who are bereft of a kind mother and a good neighbor." The Herald Shelbyville, MO, October 18, 1876 "Lydia Ann Copenhaver was born in Winchester, VA was married to her bereaved husband Jan. 31, 1850. In early life she united with the Reformed Lutheran Church in the community of which she remained until her removal to Shelbyville about twenty years since when she joined the M.E. Church, South. At the age of forty-three she passed away from the circle of her family and friends, beloved and mourned. Two years since she was attacked from heart disease, which ended her earthly history Sept 5, 1876. With great suffering, resigned to God's will, giving a dying benediction to her husband and children she ceased to live. T.
