Gloria Morris Mikes was born to parents, Raymond and Josephine (Janis) Morris in East Bernard, TX on June 11, 1942. She was raised in East Bernard. On June 5, 1960, the former Miss Gloria Morris was joined in marriage to Mr. Frank Mikes with a ceremony held in Wallis. Gloria was a lifelong homemaker but she also helped Frank run The City Meat Market in Wallis. Most importantly she was MeMaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gloria was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and K.J.Z.T. Gloria Morris Mikes passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Liz Sliva and husband, Jr, of Wallis and Linda Toman and husband, Garry, of Wallis; sons, Frank Mikes, Jr. and wife, Dana, of East Bernard and Thomas Mikes and fiancee, Tammie Kunetka, of Hillje; sisters, Margaret Janicek, Evelyn Pilcik, Rose Pumphrey, Agnes Jochec, Helen Urbish, and Molly Wallace; brother-in-law, Joe Janicek; grandchildren, Amanda Toman, Chris Toman, Florian James Sliva, III and wife, Venessa, Felicia Oliver and husband, Patrick, Rebecca Toman, Tyler Mikes, Kyle Mikes, and Leslie Mikes; great-grandchildren, Trey Gaston, Logan Sliva, Cody Toman, Kolby Hatton, and Peyton Sliva; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Josephine Morris, husband, Frank Mikes, Sr. and brother, Stanley Morris. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell, Brenham, TX 77833, Austin County EMS, 1 East Main, Bellville, TX 77418 or Wallis Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 280, Wallis, TX 77485. Serving as pallbearers for the service were Florian James Sliva, III, Chris Toman, Tyler Mikes, Kyle Mikes, Patrick Oliver, Walt Pumphrey and Thomas Dibala. Honorary pallbearers are Trey Gaston, Logan Sliva, Cody Toman, Kolby Hatton and Peyton Sliva.
