Services for Richard E. Howell, 68, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Treat, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home. Howell died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at his residence. He married Allie R. Martin on Nov. 17, 1972, in Lovington. He was a retired mechanic and shop foreman at Southwest Wheel, Inc. He farmed and worked for Gilbreath Steel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Asbury's Crusader Sunday School Class. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kenneth R. Gordon of Tacoma, Wash., Gary Howell of Lubbock and Danny Howell of Cypress; two daughters, Barbara Kay Hayward of Amarillo and Pam Sims of Lubbock; a brother, Weldon of Anton; two sisters, Dorothy Allen and Juanita Tenant, both of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
