Fort Bend Herald, Tuesday, October 3, 2006 Funeral services for Charlie Gorka, age 89, of Rosenberg, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, with the Rev. Fred Banda and the Rev. Lori Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Mr. Gorka died Sunday, October 1, 2006, in Rosenberg. He was born February 6, 1917 in Chappell Hill, TX to parents, Vincent and Elizabeth Kaminski Gorka. He was a local cattle rancher for many years. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and the Sons of Hermann, Needville Lodge #153. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Miller Gorka, of Rosenberg; daughters, Carol Bosse and husband, Tom of Needville, Claudette Carson of Rosenberg; sons, Dennis Gorka and wife, Cindi, of Richmond, David Gorka and wife, Erin, of Simonton, Douglas Gorka and wife, Jo Ann, of Rosenberg; grandchildren, Wyatt Bosse and wife, Amy, and Wade Bosse and wife, Teresa, all of Needville, Carolanne McAffee and husband, Russ, of Alvin, Luke Carson of Seattle, WA, Dan Hammerschmidt of Ft. Collins, CO, Bryan Gorka and wife, Tanya, of Tomball, Jennifer Gorka of Beasley, Kristin Gorka of Round Rock, Matthew Gorka of Simonton, Kristin, Kody, and Korey Korthauer of Richmond; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Roznovsky of Houston, Hattie Lamza and husband, Gene, of Houston; brother, Henry Gorka of Richmond; and sister-in-law, Frances Gorka of Needville; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Gorka was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Elizabeth Gorka; by five sisters and four brothers and one granddaughter, Karen Hammerschmidt.
