Ben Mann came with his family from Illinois to Texas in the late 1870s. He had lived in Dallas for fifty years and his firm Ben F Mann Grocery operated several stores throughout the city. Survived by his wife, Maggie Belle James Mann; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret (Ed S.) Davis and Mrs. Merle Marie (R. D.) Birmingham; two sons, Clarence Radford Mann and James Burton Mann. His son Benjamin Franklin "Bennie" Mann, Jr., died in 1943. (Thanks to Mitzi Edmonds Moore) Ben signed a WWI draft registration card in Dallas on September 12, 1918 giving his date of birth as July 25, 1874. Description short, stout, blue eyes, bald. He and wife Maggie were living at 3701 Colonial, and he was working for himself as a grocer at 1911 Pine Street. He named Maggie as his nearest relative.
