Bio

August Albert Janis, 86, of Port Lavaca, passed away February 27, 2012. He was born January 14, 1926 to the late Joseph Frank and Julie Helen Pustejovsky Janis. He was retired from Alcoa, served in the Navy during WWII, was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, VFW Post 4403 and past volunteer of the Olivia/Port Alto Fire Dept. He is survived by his daughters, Janet Janis of Austin, and Arleen Janis (Russell) Caffey of Rockdale; sons, David Janis of Port Lavaca, and Larry (Jeanne) Janis of Victoria; daughter-in-law, Esther Janis of Pasadena; sister, Willie Mae Motl; brothers, Jerry Janis, and Joe F. Janis Jr.; grandchildren, Jody (Deborah), Dawn and Tim (Kira) Janis, Steven (Amy Korenek) Caffey, Randy (Jessica) Janis, Robyn Janis (Matt) Wasem, and Jordan and Jessica Janis; and great-grandchildren, Allyson, Amber and Ayden Foraker, and Katrina and Adolina Janis. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Lillie Anne Jedlicka Janis; parents; son, J.D. Janis; and brothers, Vencil F. Janis, Alex P. Janis, and John Janis. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 5 - 7 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens with Military Honors under the auspices of Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard. Pallbearers are all his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf for masses. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.richardsoncolonial.com.
