Bio

Born in St. Thomas (now Clark County, Nevada). Margaret married James Barton Ashcroft 5 April 1882 at St. George, Washington, Utah Territory. She was his first wife. He married her sister, Elizabeth Lavina Johnson 3 1/2 years later and four years after that, married Nannie Ameilia Smith in polygamy. Mother eight known children: Margaret Ellen 1884-1884, May 1885-1887, Permelia Irene 1888-1889, James William 1890-1907, Phoebe Ann 1892-1892, Clara 1894-1980, Karl George 1897-1953, and Elda 1901-1935.
