Funeral services were held for Henry Elzy Cockerham, 65, of Teague, on Wednesday, October 7, 1987, at Ricks Funeral Chapel. Bro. Bill Hart officiated and Bro. Henry Davenport assisted. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Cockerham was a retired Postal worker and a resident of Freestone County for 25 years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and a World War II Veteran. He was born on September 20, 1922, in Dodson, Winn County, Louisiana, and past away on October 5, 1987, in Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Iva Pearl Hamby Cockerham of Teague; Three sons, Gerald W. Cockerham, Donny J. Cockerham, and Ronny J. Cockerham all of Teague. Two daughters, Carol Ann Cockerham Clary of Baytown, and Linda K. Cockerham Ferguson of Teague. His mother, Mrs. Eva Roberta Caskey Cockerham of Teague; one sister, Eva LaFaye Cockerham Flandry of Teague, and two brothers, Charles Bruce Cockerham of Palestine, and Kenneth Gerald Cockerham of Teague. Seventeen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Rayford Barger, Bill Beene, Jay F. Bodine, Aubry Rawls, Dick Lawrence, Marcus Steen and Buck Freeman. Ricks Funeral Home of Teague was in charge of the arrangements.
