Shipley Rites Held Friday Anna Etta Rowe, eldest daughter of William and Mary Rowe was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 7, 1880, and passed away at her home in Loup City, April 26, 1939. When 18 months old she came with her parents to a homestead located 8 miles north on Loup City. The family later moved to Loup City when she was 9 years of age, where she grew to young womanhood and on September 25, 1896 she was united in marriage to August Bechthold. To this union three children were born, Waunita Alleman of Spearfish, S. D., and a twin son and daughter, Pauline Emma at home and Paul Emmett who at the age of 22 preceded his mother in death, June 6, 1934. Her husband, August Bechthold passed away April 5, 1918 [sic]. On March 29, 1921 she was united in marriage to Edwin Shipley who with her daughter Emma tendered loving care and devotion through her years of lingering illness. Mrs. Shipley, in her young womanhood taught six years in the rural school of Sherman County and for many years has been a loyal devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Loup City. She leaves to mourn her passing besides her husband and daughters, two step daughters, a daughter-in-law, eight grand children, her aged mother, four brothers and four sisters, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church last Friday afternoon in charge of Rev. M. H. Knobloch. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. The Sherman County Times - May 4 1939
