The Deseret News Tuesday, November 3, 1998 Blauer Lorenzo Bangerter, died 1 Nov 1998 in Provo, UT, in the presence of loved ones. Blauer was born in Granger, UT, 1 March 1923, to William and Isabelle Bangerter, the 5th of 11 children. He graduated from Cyprus High School, 22 May 1941. He served in the Air Force from March 1943 to August 1946 completing his service in Europe at the end of World War II as a weather forecaster and held the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Argentina from March 1947 to Sept. 1949. Blauer was married to Bessie Pauline Brown, 17 March 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He received a Bachelors Degree from BYU. 6 June 1951, a Masters Degree, August 1955, and a Ph.D., May 1965 from the University of Utah. He was Professor of Physical Education at BYU and BYU-Hawaii for 35 years.He served faithfully in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including high counselor, bishop, and mission president of the Mexico City Mission. In later years Blauer and Bessie served missions in the Washington D.C. and Santiago Chile Temples. At the time of Blauers death, he was serving as a sealer in the Provo Temple. Of all of the many titles that Blauer has held over the years, the ones most dear to him were the titles of Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. Those that knew Blauer have never questioned his devotion to his God, his family, or his friends. Blauer is survived by his wife, Bessie Bangerter; children: Hugh (Lucile) Bangerter, Eve B. (Carter) Burch, Linda B. (Joseph) Haynie, Jared (Jody) Bangerter, and Martha B. (Jay L.) Beck; 24 grandchildren; sisters: Sarah B. Hardy, Pauline B. Jensen (William), Elsbeth B. Hansen, Marian B. Lindsay (Richard), Naomi B. Weaver; brothers: William Grant (Geraldine), Samuel (Gloria), Norman (Colleen), and David. Preceding Blauer in death are his parents, his son, James Blauer Bangerter, his grandson, Michael Haynie, and his sister, Gleneth B. Wilson. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Nov. 5 at 11 a.m., Provo North Stake Center, 1122 Grand Avenue, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, on Wed., Nov. 4, 6 to 8 p.m., or at the Provo North Stake Center one hour before the funeral service from 10-11 a.m. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
