Bio

Sutton - Pauline Trautman Griess, youngest daughter of Karl and Caroline Zoller Trautman, was born on Spetember [sic] 22, 1903, on a farm south of Sutton, in Clay County, Nebraska, and she died at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora, Nebraska, on March 30, 1976, at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 8 days. She lived all her life in the Sutton vicinity, and since suffering a paralyzing stroke four years ago, Pauline has been a resident of the Sutton Community Home. On the 11th of February, 1925, she was united in marriage to John C. Griess, and to this union was born one son, LaRayne. Pauline was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sutton, Nebraska. Those preceding her in death are her parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Surviving her is her husband, John C.; son, LaRayne and his wife, Rose of Sutton; two grandchildren, Craig and Darci; two sisters; Anna Miller of Hampton, Nebraska, and Eva Klein of Denver, Colorado; and one brother, Edward Trautman of Sutton. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Sutton, with the Rev. Elwood B. Hipple, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Harold Heinz served as organist, and Mrs. Duane Majors sang, :Rock of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Jake Penner, Allen Klein, LaVern Ochsner, Gideon Redler, Ivan Johnson, and Vernon Yost. Committal was in the Sutton Cemetery with the Kohler Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
