Valley Morning Star - (December 3, 2004) Mattie Mae Miller HARLINGEN, TX - Mattie Mae Miller, 82, passed away Monday, November 29, 2004 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Mattie was born on December 10, 1921 to W.H. and Minnie Wheaton. She is survived by her three daughters, Betty (Paul) Young of Harlingen, Mary Ann Biela of Harlingen and Helen (Vic) Maschler also of Harlingen; six grandchildren, Annette (Michael) Burke of Sugarland, Texas, Paula Freeman of Harlingen, Paul (Latisha) Young, Jr., of Harlingen, Russell Maschler of Harlingen, Charlene (Matthew) Minor of Tioga, Texas, and Benjamin (Jennifer) Biela of Prosper, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Melanie and Tyler Burke of Sugarland, Texas, Lauren Freeman and Courtney Young of Harlingen; five sisters, Dena Doemain of Alice, Texas, Sarah Massey of Harlingen, Johnnie Stapleton of Harlingen, Maggie (Ralph) McClanahan of Harlingen, and Roxie (David) George of San Benito, Texas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Russell (Mick) Miller on December 12, 2000; parents, W.H. and Minnie Wheaton; sister, Totsey Freeman; and brother, C.W. Wheaton. Visitation hours will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. Graveside services only will be held at Combes Cemetery, 10 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2004 with Chaplain Russell Antwerten officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
